anon : Given the abrupt failures we've seen in the airline industry just this week, it perhaps shouldn't be too surprising that SF/Nextphase imploded with similar suddenness.
anon : Earlier in this forum, somebody posted a quote from NextPhase Wireless' 4th quarter 10K form that they are obliged to file with the Securities & Exchange Commission. That was a good post and a good way to approach this problem. I went and read the same report. The part that got my attention (in the section where they list risks to their forward-looking statements) was the part that basically said [paraphrased by me], we may not have enough cash flow to pay our bills and we will continue to fund operations by issuing stock and debt financing. That was the general gist of it anyway. Looked to me like NextPhase might have been a highly aquisitive company, probably using a lot of financing to make the aquisitions. Just a guess of course, but I bet NextPhase is a victim of the credit crunch, ie, the same dredit crunch all the banks are experiencing now. If you want to read the 10K report for yourself, go to SEC.gov and do a search for NextPhase Wireless, then look for the Dec 07 report.

I'm in metro Atlanta and I do not have service today. I can go to Speedfactory.net but that's all. I'm using Juno dial-up now... just got the 3 months for $4.95 intro offer. Juno seems to be real slow though, even for dial-up. I'm not getting full dial-up speed out of it.

I don't much of anything about Atlantic Nexus much but I did notice it mentioned a few places on this forum. So I went and checked them out at their websire and also with DSLReports.com. I see they have the 1.5 mbps DSL lines for same as Speed Factory sold them and that $40 line that's 3.5mbps is looking pretty good right now. I know maybe Bellsouth might be the safest bet but I suspect they port block sometimes and also don't like the idea of my phone support linking to India.

Not sure I'd go out and buy another DSL service quite yet though cause if SF did manage to come back to life, then I'd be in contracts for two DSL lines.

I would hope Speed Factory would decide something over the weekend and either be up-running again Monday morning or post notice to us on Monday.

Too bad Speed Factory was taken over by NextPhase. The "old" Speed Factory was great. They never would have pulled a stunt like this.
