One thing I've learnt since being in the IT industry - and I assume the same applies to the telecom industry as well - is that while it's nice to find out what caused something, that is secondary to getting the issue resolved. Sometimes you never know what caused something, even though you managed to fix it.

Question: what does a 911 call sound like to the operator when you don't actually make it? Static etc.? |

Looks like the removal of services and reprogramming worked. No more false 911 calls in the last ten days, since all services were restored. Bell is compensating me with three months phone service and returning my DSL line to the 5 meg profile. They have accepted my suggestions for improvement. I think this one is closed. Thanks for all your support, folks.

| Good to see it's finally resolved. 3 months free service is nice, but this is essentially how long you had the issues, so they're not really doing anything special for you, just crediting back for the time you had the issues...
IMO, this was a special case, and you should have gotten more than just 3 months credit for your huge inconvenience, not to mention the inconvenience caused to the 911 dispatch and the police.

I am currently in the 3 meg profile and will keep checking for the 5 meg profile. I know that when the pairs were changed, the profile was also changed. The pairs will have to be reconfigured at the CO before anything can be done.
