I must say that Bell has been exceptionally professional in all of this, once I got through the call centers in India and was dealing with people actually able to do the required inquiry. I have also been told that this issue and the correspondence (as well as this thread) will be used as a case study at several levels within Bell.

Still waiting for my DSL speed to be returned to pre-event conditions. That being said, I have an appointment tomorrow for a DSL specialist to come and take a look at the inside wiring. I'll keep folks posted.

BTW, did bell switch you to the original copper loop at the end of this fiasco, or are you on that longer loop that you could only get 3meg on?

BTW, did bell switch you to the original copper loop at the end of this fiasco, or are you on that longer loop that you could only get 3meg on?
They haven't changed anything since they switched to the longer loop.

| 3008/768? are you sure about the 768 on the upstream? if the stats read that as your sync rate, that means the modem is not syncing at the full 800kbit upstream. I've seen this at a few places, and double-filtering phones sometimes fixes the issue.
But regardless, the bigger issue is 5meg... I suppose they can't just switch you back to the old pair that had a shorter run to the CO?
BTW, I still suggest you ask Bell to simply switch your DSL to dry-loop, and it will have to be on a separate pair to the CO. Bell doesn't charge band rate for Sympatico dry-loop.

Have the guys from the direct forum actually tried setting it to 5056/800 or even 4032/800 see what the actual SNR is? sometimes the "attainable rate" is quite misleading. There's also a gap in your downstream graph, if eliminated that would probably help to push you to back to 5meg...
As for the 768k upstream... Thats' most likely something on your inside wiring...
I'm interested what the "specialist" will have to say.

In the fist post of your stats you have an upstream of 768. Is 768 even a profile? Its not one I recall as seeing as being a standard profile.
If its giving errors and sync'ing at whatever it can, is it worth it to take a step down on the upstream profile???
Thats a question I would ask (if the errors are up there). |

Yes, it's synching at 768. I'm not worried, though. And I'll wait and see what the Bell DSL tech says tomorrow.
