| reply to V_DSL_027 No FIOS for us!
I've been keeping tabs on FIOS and it looks like the WWW neighborhood will not be getting FIOS any time soon. FIOS is installed and running across 202 (near Old York School), but not here. No idea why. Verizon couldn't give me an answer as to why they have no foreseeable plans to install it here.
The moment FIOS comes to our neighborhood, I'm on it. |

| Hey, wait a minute...
When I test to the Parsippany site, I get around 10MB or so. When I test to the NYC site I get around 19MB or so. But the NYC site says that it can't handle more than 10MB, so what's going on? Extrapolating speed based on what it measures (i.e., if it's 8.5MB they extrapolate 17MB)...
Anyway, I'd like to see some reliable results based on real-world downloads. |

| Comcast Conversion
Spoke to Comcast tech support this morning. They said there is an issue with my line and a tech needs to come to the house. Per sales dept I should be getting 15/2 for my speed but line issue is causing slow down. Have to wait until 5/6 for tech to come. I think part of the issue is I own my own modem and in the conversion they decide to set my speed to 10/1 because they did not know the MAC address. That's just my suspicion as nothing has changed as my home with the exception of Comcast changing my server (IP address). |

| Comcast tech support called me tonight. The issue was with my modem. As part of the conversion, system had two modems assigned to my account. Tech needed to update account info with my owned modem info.

With patmedia, I had the standard HSI package. How fast is that supposed to be now that we're on Comcast? I tried to run docsdiag on my modem, but it failed...any ideas why? |
