| Versalink 327W and Verizon Broadband Access
Okay, I'm very new to networking in general but pretty familiar with most computer hardware/software applications. I am trying to use my 327 to allow wi-fi access of a Verizon wireless broadband connection. The broadband modem is USB-powered and I would have both the modem and 327 connected to the same PC. The PC is downstairs and I want to be able to use a laptop/cell phone upstairs. Is the "bridge" function what I am looking to set up or is it something else altogether? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

| The bridge setting on the 327w is for the connection between the modem and your ISP. It has nothing to do with what will be going on in your LAN.
Whether to use bridge settings will depend on your ISP. I seem to recall that some verizon regions use PPPoE, while others use DHCP. It the DHCP regions you would set the 327w as a routed bridge. In the PPPoE regions, setup the modem for PPPoE. Your ISP should have told you which you need (or maybe their setup software works it out). |

| reply to gr8scotts gr8scotts, We have a Verizon Forum here so if you would like I can move this over to the Verizon Forum. Let me know. If you want me to move this post, I will need to know which Verizon product you have - DSL or Fiber Optics? -- TH ~ NE ~ EPN ~ NC ~ TD |

| reply to nwrickert I'm not sure which settings this region (midwest) uses; would their tech assistance be able to tell me that over the phone or is there somewhere I can look it up? Is that all I would need to do to make the setup work? Thanks for the info so far... |

While you are on the line, check what you need for VPI and VCI. Those will be numbers, such as 0 and 35. Not sure what verizon uses. |

| reply to gr8scotts Okay. Hold on and I'll get you moved over to Verizon DSL. If you have Verizon Fiber Optics, let me know. I am assuming you have DSL. And yes I know you can get into trouble assuming. -- TH ~ NE ~ EPN ~ NC ~ TD |
