You're not reading my post. I am not talking about the switch configuration. I am talking about your terminal client on your PC. If you can see the text output on the terminal screen but when you type nothing shows up, then you either have an incorrect flow control setting in your terminal client, local echo is disabled, or there is a bad pinout on your terminal cable.

Also you can fix this issue of the switch booting to ROMMON by adjusting the config-register to 0x2102 and/or configuring 'boot system flash:imagename.bin'. Do a dir on your flash to see what IOS image is booting and you can configure that manually to boot at startup so you don't have to do it yourself each time.
