I'd guess it could be a large corporation with multiple floors. Each floor has an IDF with a gigabit switch serving it and the MDF has the core switch connecting all the gigabit IDFs together. To keep the core MDF from being the bottleneck you would need more bandwidth in the MDF than the IDFs have. ]]></description>

They are a steal of a deal as well, i think i paid $4K for it. This is layer 2 only though, but great for aggregating 10 gig links.]]></description>
