There are 2 Steps<br><br>1st Step:<br>Adding an LPD printer under Windows Vista :<br>&#149; Add print services for Vista <br>1.&#9;Control Panel, Programs and Features, Turn Windows features On or Off <br>2.&#9;New Window: Check Print Services, expand this by selecting "+" <br>3.&#9;Check LPR Port Monitor <br><br>2nd Step:<br>&#149; Add the printer to the machine <br>1.&#9;Add Printer: select "Printers and Faxes" from Start Menu <br>2.&#9;Double-click Add Printer <br>3.&#9;Click Next <br>4.&#9;Check "Local Printer attached to this computer" and uncheck "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer" <br>5.&#9;Click Next <br>6.&#9;Select Create a new port: and choose "LPR Port" from pull down menu <br>7.&#9;The Add LPR compatible printer window appears Name or address of server providing lpd: (the IP Address of the Router &#150; ie: 192.168.1.20) Name of printer or print queue on that server: name_of_printer (ie - envgrad or civps5) ( Special for 3COM 3c510 using SMC 7004 Firmware &#150; use lp for the queue name ) -- Very Important<br>8.&#9;The Print driver Window appears next install proper print driver on your computer (look at printer for printer model) (ie - envgrad printer driver is "HP Laserjet 5000 Series PCL6" for pcl 6 driver) <br>9.&#9;Choose a name for you printer (typically use the same name_of_printer as above to avoid confusion) &#150; Any Name is OK select default printer if you choose <br>10.&#9;Select "Do not share this printer" <br>11.&#9;Print test page if desired (if you print test page go check to make sure it prints properly) <br>12.&#9;Finish ]]></description>

It came from my parents and they said they were having problems after they got a new printer and upgrading machines.<br><br>I know all was fine with 98 and the original client program, hence I'm going to try that route with a 98 machine I have.<br><br>forgot to log in]]></description>
