downloading over Rogers 3g vs. Rogers Cable...

I'm sure that he's going to have a NICE large bill for that service. Wireless data in Canada (and voice) is VERY expensive.

That will be on tomorrow's front page.

It's getting cheaper. You can now get unlimited tethered 3G data for ~$60/month. Bunch of people I know have unlimited data on their Blackberries and HTC devices for a few bucks. While it's not to the level of Europe, we're certainly catching up.

... of which exist on just about every cell network in the world. Good luck pulling 20GB on an HSDPA network in the US without having someone do something to make your life miserable.

I used to pull 100 gigs a month off of Aliant's EVDO service- no issue. It costs 84 dollars a month plus tax for a 1.5/500 service, however and was far from cheap- but no caps and low ~80ms ping rates make it a great service.

I know people who do crazy stuff with Bell EVDO as well. In fact, everyone who I know with a data plan on Telus has an unlimited data plan. Times are changing in this country, that's for sure.

I also know someone with an HSDPA PCMCIA card on Rogers. He has a 250MB data plan. He claims that he has never been billed for downloading more than 250MB, but he has been charged for uploading more than 250MB. Considering the amount of stuff I alone have downloaded over his HSDPA connection, I figure I would have heard something if he had received a bill the size of a phone book.
