| [General] EVDO so close.
Here's my situation: I live in an area where I can only get 1xRTT on my phone, but If I go about 3 to 4 miles down the road, I can get EVDO in a neighboring area. The area I can get EVDO is in a somewhat lower elevation than my own, and is separated from me by a slightly higher elevation and trees. Basically I have no line-of-sight to the EVDO area.
Sometimes, my phone will get a EVDO signal for a quick second (it will flash on the screen), but leaves after about 10 seconds. I can't lock on to a EVDO signal, but my 1X reception is great.
I currently have Satellite (HughesNet), and although I'll be getting DSL in September, I would like to use EVDO, if I can do it on the cheap. (Say no more than $200 on data-card & other equipment).
Any hope for me? Is this possible? -- HughesNet | HN7000S | Pro Plan | .74 dish | 1-Watt Trans. | IA6 1433 MHz | Router 67.44.65.112 | Rate Code=256k 4/5 | NO Static IP | WRT54G w/ DD-WRT Firmware v23 sp2 |
