Re: Uhhh...

I think what the other person is trying to say is that the telephone companies cannot raise or lower their rates right now overnight to compete with rates of non regulated companies. They have to go through the state commission which can take forever.

I guess their "free" ride is over, and they don't like it. That aside, let's just tax everything to death.

Since telcos have been regulated for a long time, I wouldn't exactly call it a "free ride". And no, we shouldn't tax everything to death. The contrary is a better plan to encourage infrastructure investment, innovation, and expansion.

hmmm.... having nationwide infrastructure paid for by tax payers is the definition of "free ride".

edit: that plus a legal monopoly.

can you see what it's difficult to accept any complaining from telco??

The nationwide infrastructure wasn't paid for by tax payers. It may have been helped via tax breaks, regulation, and the government allowed monopoly, but I definitely wouldn't call it a "free ride". Nowadays, with the level of competition facing the telcos, I don't see why it's so difficult to accept any complaints.
