| The nationwide infrastructure wasn't paid for by tax payers. It may have been helped via tax breaks, regulation, and the government allowed monopoly, but I definitely wouldn't call it a "free ride". Nowadays, with the level of competition facing the telcos, I don't see why it's so difficult to accept any complaints. |
