Residential line charge, Federal excise tax, Local communications services tax, State gross receipts tax, Telecommunications Relay Service, County 911 Funding Fee, Federal subscriber line charge are out of their hands.
Other charges like calling plans, other add-ons and invented changes like regulatory cost recovery fee are routinely changed and/or charged by the telcos.
The telcos don't like the fact the cable companies are doing it and charging less at the bottom line. Simply put they could charge less on the non-regulated side to compete with the cable providers, but they instead have taken a different approach. |
