| WoW VoIP drops out during file downloads (New service)
Posting for a friend:
Have the WoW Triple package (TV,VoIP&Internet) installed over the past couple of weeks.
VoIP is unusable when downloading files from the internet. Sound is "choppy" as you would expect is the data side is grabbing all the bandwidth.
WoW service has been out a couple of times, claims they've never seen this before. (Right!)
Attempting to say it's been everything but THEIR problem. (Bad ethernet card in PC, network card feeding back into the cable line, need a filter, Sun spots, etc., etc. (OK, I lied about the Sun spots)
They have swapped out the cable modem once or twice, no change.
Where's a good place to escalate this? Field service appears clueless! Coming out again today.
Install location is Westland, Michigan. |

Why PM? Why not share with everybody? You never know if somebody else might have the same problem and could reference this thread for help. |

| reply to McWizzard I just moved to the WOW service area (in Northville, MI) and this is very interesting. I've had vonage for 3 years with no issues, but since getting here - major choppy with download. At first I told WOW they needed to make sure I had a cable modem with DOCSIS 1.1 or better and they had no clue about DOCSIS at all. When I called them and asked them if their network supported QoS, they were dumbfounded. They told me their "engineer" had never even heard of it. Of course they told me that since I had vonage, they couldn't help me. I argued that it wasn't a vonage issue - it was their network. The fact that you have their service and still have the issue tells me that their network just isn't setup to support QoS and the only people who don't have the issue are the ones who don't do any sustained downloading. I ended up emailing their CTO and CEO. If I get a response, I'll post it. |
