Traveling to Australia and New Zealand with Millenicom

I have Millenicom service in the US. Suppose I travel to Australia and NZ with it. Is Melbourne and Christchurch in EVDO coverage areas? Are there any upcharges?

It will not work , Sprint does not have roaming agreements with The carriers there .

You should be able to get the equivilent from Telecom or Vodafone. I lived in NZ for a year, and was able to get cell phones with various plans, on a pay per use basis.

However, keep in mind, that broadband is metered, even for cable or dsl modems. So.. it will be expensive.

Yeah, that's what I've read. Which is precisely why I was looking for a loophole (eg. bringing a flat rate US-based service to NZ). I heard one company monopolizes it all.

However, they can't monopolize satellite connectivity that's provided to other countries in the same hemisphere right? Perhaps I need to explore that possibility. That is, go to Malaysia, find a flat rate satellite service, and bring the dish to NZ.
