Re: This can be used by terrorists........

What can? If there is a law against using a cell phone on a plane, and a cell phone would help them, a terrorist is going to use it anyways. Or if you're on a plane getting hijacked, you're going to use your cell-phone to tell someone anyways, who cares about the law in that situation.

When cell phones are outlawed, only outlaws will have cell phones.

I think phone conversations banned/not banned would be better for the airlines to decide. Depending on how people feel, it could be a competitive advantage. Airline A could lift all restrictions, they'd probably get more business passengers and first time flyers. Airline B could ban the talking and they'd get the people who like to sleep or not be bothered.

axus, you have a very good point, but of course I would have thought that other airlines would try to compete as soon as one airline lifts the ban and then quickly all airlines wqill have lift the ban.

I agree that it should be up to each airline. Just like I think laws banning smoking in privately owned bars is out of line. Leave those decisions up to the business owners.

On the other hand I'd just be happy if the FCC would publicly own up to the fact that there is no technological reason for the ban. Yes I don't want to hear some jack*ss trying to sound important, but his phone is not going to bring the plane down, and trying to convince me it is only makes them look like idiots.
