Mansfield, TX | Why stop there? Man, oh man! So, let me get this right... the government is attempting to pass a Bill, making cell phone usage on planes illegal, because they feel people don't want to be BOTHERED by other people talking on them?
Hell, why stop there!? People don't want to look at ugly people to... ban them from going in public! Most of us HATE idiots, keep them inside (oh wait, that means the politicians could never come out and play)!
Point is, most of us HATE a lot of things; however, that gives no reason for big Sam to step in and throw down a hammer! These old farts in suits at the Big House are getting a bit ridiculous!
As I've stated in a post JUST on this topic, ONLY a couple weeks ago... peace and quiet in ANY public atmosphere is not a right in this country (and YES, a commercial plane would qualify as a public place)! 99.9% of the time also, if you were being annoyed by somebody... simply bringing it to their attention and asking them to bring it down would suffice! If not, bring their actions to the appropriate authorities (whether it be the stewardess, police, etc.).

Although you were probably trying to be humorous... your statement actually wouldn't surprise me in the slightest as being accurate. They could be used as detonators, the airlines would rather you use their expensive phones, etc. all come into mind.
There's also a million reasons why 70% of the drivers behind the wheel of a car shouldn't have their license; however, I don't see politicians / lawmakers running to inplace laws prohibiting them to do so for YOUR safety. This would be absurd... and so is the cell phone argument. | |

UNREASONABLY... You've even stated it yourself! (ie. screaming excessively, turning the bass at 300% on your stereo system, etc.) Not to mention, I DID state a PUBLIC place! If you ever get out to eat much, or go to a ball game, the noise level at those places are pretty high! Try calling law enforcement at a ball game for somebody cheering too loud (provided he / she isn't breaking other laws with vulgorness, etc.)... we'll see how far you'll get.
"majority rule" Sorry, laws haven't adapted this system for years! What a lawmaker pulls out of his / her ass, is what attempts to get legislated today. | |
