Nope, that's why I turned the date on, or nobody would believe it. this is about the most snow we had all year at one time. around 8-9" deep, but a lot more fell, the ground was so warm it's melting from underneath. without the ground melt we'd probably have 12-14". the tv says some more flurry until noon, when it should change to rain. looks like some of our old flowering cherry trees lost a few branches not a typical late april. |

| reply to NanDog Wow! Our original forecast was for snow this morning, but, we woke up to a cloud free sky. It's clouded up since then and stayed cool, but no snow or rain. That's okay. I've still got 3 feet in the front yard that needs to melt so I can plant stuff!! |

tshirt Premium,MVM join:2004-07-11 Snohomish, WA | reply to NanDog Now we have snow, sleet, rain, hail, grapel (little rolled up balls of snow, like hail that was too cold to melt) thunder, lightning, and sun in rapid succession. upper air is very confused today |

1 edit | reply to NanDog It's just starting to affect us, the showers are just a couple of hours away at Leggett presently, and it looks to stay cold all week. It's only 42 right now in Redwood Valley, that's very cold for us this time of year!
Statement as of 4:21 AM PDT on April 19, 2008
... Unseasonably cold weather expected across northwest California this weekend...
A cold area of low pressure aloft currently over British Colombia will settle southwards over Oregon and Washington later this afternoon.
Rain showers will begin to develop across northern portions of northwest California this morning... with shower activity increasing through the afternoon and evening hours for the remainder of the region. Rain will begin to mix with snow later this afternoon as unseasonably cold air filters into the region through the day.
Snow levels will lower from around 3500 to 4000 feet in the morning down to 2500 feet by the late afternoon. Snow levels will lower further late Saturday night to between 1500 and 2500 feet. With warm ground temperatures in place... only brief snow accumulations of up to an inch are expected.
With low freezing levels... elevations down to the coast may see small hail or a light snow mix in heavier showers Saturday night and during the day on Sunday.
Freezing overnight temperatures are expected tonight and Sunday night... especially in regions sheltered from wind. Efforts should be undertaken to move or cover plants which are susceptible to the cold. Motorists traveling through the region this weekend should be prepared for cold temperatures... slippery and hazardous driving conditions. For the latest weather information check NOAA Weather Radio or www.Weather.Gov/Eureka.

2 edits | It's only 38 here right now, for 8 PM on April 19th, that's abnormally cold for this area. The Vineyards are all starting to bud out, and the Pear Trees are in bloom, I'm sure those growers are not too happy tonight, I'll have to cover some things up in our yard for sure. |

Here, most of the snow had melted by now, but I think it will still be enough for a new record. |

| reply to NanDog Yup, we have snow advisories, and may break records from the 1950's if we get that 3".
quote: Snow Advisory Statement as of 2:49 PM PDT on April 20, 2008
... Snow Advisory remains in effect until 11 am PDT Monday...
A Snow Advisory remains in effect until 11 am PDT Monday.
Heavy snow showers will track slowly across the region tonight and Monday... producing accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Due to the highly convective nature of these showers... wide ranges in accumulations can be expected... with localized amounts around 4 inches not uncommon.
A Snow Advisory means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
This advisory includes the following locations... Coeur D'Alene... Post Falls... Hayden... Spokane... Cheney... Davenport... Rockford.

My bleak outlook...

Yeah, nothing's wrong with the climate these days, everythings just spiffy...except that we used to have four seasons around here.
