Comments regarding the ARRIS TM502G modem???

TWC just replaced my SB-5101 modem with an ARRIS model TM502G. This was done as part of an upgrade to our system (installing the phone service).

Speed test wise, I don't see any issues when compared to the Motorola, however, as I never heard of ARRIS before, I wonder if anyone has any experiences to share?

Oh and by the way, I was expecting them to instal this device NEXT to my SB-5101. My wife told me that they disconnected mine then installed theirs. So I now have a SB-5101 modem as a "spare";-(

The Arris eMTA's are very good, I would take one anyday over the SA Webstar eMTA's. Arris is now part of C-COR, and they make all kinds of hardware for cable systems and headends.

No point in splitting the cable just to have a modem sitting right next to a eMTA that does internet just fine.

C-Cor is actually part of Arris now.

C-Cor is a dirty 4 letter word... I'd rather not have to use there gear.

Arris is a great equipment provider though.

You are correct not sure what made me think it was the other way around.

As far as using their gear...it looks like SoCal is going all C-COR, so I guess that sucks.

Thanks for the information. I went to their website and downloaded the brochure. I was curious as I had never heard about this company before. I thought they might have installed a Cisco/Linksys VoIP modem, but this Arris Touchstone TM502G seems to be working just fine. Too bad I bought my SB-5101 a couple of months ago. But then again, it wasn't that much of an expense.

Are you aware if there is a newsgroup or forum for this ARRIS modem?

I have had this modem for 9 months or so when I switched to the digital phone service. I was very reluctant to give up my SB5101 but this modem has been rock solid for me. No issues at all with it.
