Re: *Master Topic* FiosTV Going 100% Digital/All Markets The agent I talked to, when I called, specifically said, without me prompting, that I would get ALL the subscription channels I get on an SD STB, EXCEPT, Widgets, the Guide, VOD and any HD content. I asked if that included the movie package and HBO/MaximumSin and she said, "Yes."

I ordered mine yesterday, should be here next week.
I hope it does have some info, like current channel name, and some programming info. With 600+ channels, it sometimes difficult to navigate... some channel removal would be nice as well. |

These buggers are about as bare-bones as you can get. The only guide, I believe that's available, is the one on CH-48 and it only covers CHs 2-49.
They come with a Motorola remote, a 3' piece of RG-6 and a wall-wart power supply. The boxes themselves measure: 5-1/2" W x 6-1/2" D x 1-1/2" H and look exactly like a NIM-100. They have RF as well as composite video and line (L & R) audio outputs. -- Never raise your hands to your kids. It leaves your groin unprotected. -- Red Buttons |

You can get your HD locals (and other unencrypted digitals) with a QAM tuner (built into most new TV's), just not with this SD-only device.
BTW, I noticed that the SD STB no longer plays the audio on HD channels -- I only get a "not available; please upgrade" screen now. -- 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0 |

Activated the 2 DCT-700s today via the WEB interface. Everything went smoothly and it took about 10 - 15 minutes to complete for both boxes (which seemed to activate simultaneously).
I could immediately tune 2 - 49 but the rest of the channels came up with a screen that said I wasn't subscribed to them and should call the FSC to talk to an agent.
As I was working my way through the phone menus, trying to get to an agent, all of a sudden HBO came up and I could tune all my subscribed channels on both boxes - never needed to talk to a CSR. It took about another 5 - 10 minutes for the premiums to become available.
You get no program info other than the channel number and time when you either change channels or hit the "Info" button on the remote. -- Never raise your hands to your kids. It leaves your groin unprotected. -- Red Buttons |

I thought it only did the 2 - 49 analog channel block. It does indeed get all the SD subscribed channels. IOW, this is a free (while the offer still holds) "bare-bones" standard def STB. |

If you were missed with the letter, try calling the 1-888-GO-DIGITAL(Yes, thats too many characters to dial, but it works), and ask about the status of your area.
The worst they can say is NO, we haven't mailed that area out yet, keep watching your mailbox for updates.
If they missed you with the letter, they should be able to order the adapters right away.
A note: Don't call the ENCORE or FSC phone numbers for the digital adapters, or they will charge you installation and monthly rent.
You have to go through the 1-888-GO-DIGITAL number to obtain the free equipment. -- "Lithium is no longer available on credit" |

 | reply to KA3SGM On the letter I had received from Verizon, they didn't give me the 1-888-GO-DIGITAL number. They gave me the following number: 1-888-505-3512. That was the number I had called for the free digital adapter so I hope I don't get billed for the equipment. The operator had told me that it was free as long as I live at my current address. The offer was only good with that number up to April 30. I ordered my free digital adapter on April 17 and received it on April 21. My bill should be coming very soon so I will see if I get billed or not for the digital adapter. |

Just as long as you call the number indicated on the letter you received.
I would also save the original letter so you can FAX it back to them, in case they decide in the future that the definition of "FREE equipment as long as you are a Verizon Fios TV customer and reside at your current address", only means 90 days, or until the end of your current contract. -- "Lithium is no longer available on credit" |

On 5-2-08 i file a complaint with the NJ BPU about my free tv problems and my billing problems not thinking much would happen WELL a VZ rep called me today to say he was taking care of my free tv problem and he also noticed my billing was not correct and he would finally fix it for good. Seemed to know what he was doing....we'll see but it seems that a BPU complaint really gets things moving. Only time will tell if its fixed. |

That's Awesome on calling the NJ BPU first, that'll make someone at Verizon listen really quick, as they have a Statewide Franchise in NJ and wouldn't want to compromise it in any way.
I received my first bill *POST* receiving the "Free" equipment in the Western Philly, PA Suburbs, and it does not show the 3 digital adapters being billed, but their online account management shows them in the CP equipment list.
So good so far...
Although I also noticed that they seem to have now stopped charging me for HBO, although I still have it and had not canceled it.
That might be one not to call and mention(an actual mistake in MY favor), but I just know something else will get screwed up next month, so I better get this problem fixed before the next one pops up.
In talking with a few friends that also have Fios TV, there seems to be an idea to first get the free digital adapters, then return the ones you were already paying for.
If that becomes a popular trend, I am afraid that once you have the "Free" equipment, any changes equipment wise on your account, might bump you back to being billed monthly for everything, including what was supposed to remain "Free".
Just a reminder to all, to keep those original letters received from Verizon filed in a safe place, as you may have to refer back to it again if they decide to pull a 180deg on their original offer.
I keep a written list of serial numbers, of all equipment at my home, including anything that is returned or replaced due to service problems.
A good thing to take into account if I need to explain that a tech swapped that box for service problems, or that another box was returned via UPS for an upgrade.
Something to keep a list of dates, trouble ticket numbers, and UPS tracking numbers on.
Just in case they ever screw up the billing... -- "Lithium is no longer available on credit" |

 | reply to KA3SGM Well I checked both my bank's checking account and my Verizon account online and Verizon did not charge me for the free digital adapter I ordered and received late last month. The total cost of my FiOS TV bill is the same as it was last month. Now I may have a problem with my current bill though because Verizon had recently taken out the cost of this month's bill from my debit card but according to my Verizon account online I still owe them for this month's bill. Now it's possible that Verizon hasn't updated and credited my account online yet but if a few more days go by and Verizon still says I have a balance for this month's bill, I will have to call them up to hopefully correct it. I will update here in this forum. |

matcarlPremium join:2007-03-09 Franklin Square, NY 1 edit | My CO turned off the analogs today. No one exactly ever mentioned what Verizon does, so I will. They convert a few CO's everyday. New York started April 21st. They put a red screen up on the analog stations that mentions you need various equipment now to pick up the digital signal. They leave this screen up for a couple of weeks in place of the analog station. After that, then the channel is deleted and you are left with static. |
