Re: [DSL] MTU 1472 1492 Confusion

Well, i need to know why dslreports.com says 1472 as MRU and MTU while it's set 1492 on the router.
Where do you see that?

The router's MTU is set the same as the NIC's MTU. It looks like you are in Turkey??? Some countries use 1472 for the MTU. If that is your case, the router is also set to 1472.

The test was done after exiting uTorrent. There are packet losses because the connections live too long, this is not the case when some time passes after i close the program and retest, normally there're no retransmitted packets and the efficiency is %100.

Well, i don't know if my ISP uses 1472 as default, there are no info about that anywhere. Do I need to set router to 1472 as well if tweaktester reports so ? Would having 1492 while ISP using 1472 cause anything serious ? I ask that because when utorrent or emule is running, web sites load very slow or freeze. I know it's normal to have slow web while using p2p programs however most of the time web pages just time out, and even say wrong url while it's right, and refreshing page fixes the problem. And this happens at low d/l and u/l, so it's not speed relevant, more like after a number of connections, packet loss becomes a major problem.

You can call your ISP and ask what MTU they use. I think it is 1472.

What ever the MTU is, the router is set to that.
