1 edit | [Connectivity] Modem resetting all day...downloads 30Mbps+
My modem has been resetting all day...called Comcast and the automated system said there was system maintenance going on and they would call back when it was complete. Anyway, when the connection is on speed tests are showing downloads in excess of 30Mbps....Wonder what they are doing? Anyone have any ideas?
They did just add VOD service today as well...HD was added about 2 weeks ago... -- "While preceding your entrance with a grenade is a good tactic in Quake, it can lead to problems if attempted at work." -- C Hacking |

| Well I got a call from the machine today saying the technicians had marked the work in the area as completed...still going off and on and I called back and the same automated system said system maintenance was still ongoing...
The speeds I am seeing though when it is up are impressing me...its probably only temporary though... -- "While preceding your entrance with a grenade is a good tactic inQuake, it can lead to problems if attempted at work." -- C Hacking |

| reply to Loker as far as the increase speeds, sounds like powerboost. i guess you have to wait until that maintenance is over before you can really play around with it. »Comcast High Speed Internet FAQ »What is PowerBoost? |

| reply to Loker Well here we are on our 4th or 5th day of maintenance...connection is still going up and down all the time and we are still seeing sustained [ie. not powerboost] speeds of 30Mbps+... -- "While preceding your entrance with a grenade is a good tactic inQuake, it can lead to problems if attempted at work." -- C Hacking |

some people complain just to complain....maybe the OP wishes not to have VOD or HD added in their system....thus negating this troublesome 4 days of intermittent connections... |

@comcast.net | reply to Loker sounds like your modem has a 0/0 config, try limiting your download speed to around 28Mbps through your router. |

No, I would just appreciate an explanation of why the outages continue after the upgrades have been completed...I have been applying for colleges and other stuff and this has really complicated it because for the past week my connection has not been on for more than 5 minutes...I don't know if you have corresponded with colleges via a cell phone web browser but believe me it is no picnic...
My local school district uses Comcast business services as well as the local library and the students at the school have been having major issues as a result of all this....we could have just done with some warning that our service would be unusable for a week or likely more...
We were all told we would not even be allowed any service credits even though we have not been able to use the service!
You think I am just complaining to complain? I understand the intricacies of HFC systems and I know upgrades can be difficult...We just could have used some warning so we could have had the T-1 switched back as our primary connection for the time being. Also, I still think its ridiculous they want to charge us for these days we can not even use the service. |

| reply to Loker well last night I seen a couple of contractors and actual comcast techs driving to every pole in town and using what looked to be a signal meter.....on my way back through I asked if he knew what was going on? he said something about preparing for docsis 3.0.
It was just a contractor though so I would take it with a grain of salt....none of our contractors ever seem to know what is actually going on! -- "While preceding your entrance with a grenade is a good tactic inQuake, it can lead to problems if attempted at work." -- C Hacking |
