Has anybody noticed a lot less spam lately? The web email Bulk folder is shrinking - a lot less spam. Next to none the last few days, and now, the longest spam can be kept is 1 month.
A month or so ago, my Bulk folder had 1000 spam emails in it. |

| i use legacy snet pop and up until the beginning of the year my filters snagged about 65 spams per day. now i don't get any - at all. can't figure it out - not that i'm complaining - but for some reason spam is not getting through to any of my six accounts.

| reply to DSL_Steve You should hear it on my end . Alot of companies are calling in because they are getting 521 DNS RBL bouncebacks when sending to AT&T customers. Basically, after incorporating some stricter guidelines on accepting emails, alot of companies are being blocked.
Now some of those companies are legit and not spammers - but its because their mail admin was lazy in the server configuration - like reverse DNS Lookups not matching and such.. |

That's not "lazy", that's "ignorant" or maybe "incompetent". Those are basic RFC-compliant settings for email servers, just like setting up MX records. I unapologetically block such servers at my company (AOL has been doing it for over a year now), but I'm glad to assist said "admins" when asked... - GA |

| reply to JackSpratts said by JackSpratts :some kind of new alien technology running now in texas. no doubt marfa based. The gateway (MX) mail servers for the nine legacy SBC domains (run by AT&T Internet Services) apparently have had their filters tweaked to be in line with the filters on the gateway mail servers run by AT&T Worldnet Services (for 'att.net' and 'bellsouth.net' users).
The result, for at&t Yahoo! HSI customers, is less spam being transferred from the 'prodigy.net' mail hosts (receive email for the domains) to the 'yahoo.com' mail hosts (place received email in the Inbox accessed from 'yahoo.com' servers). -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |
