| [modem/router] Web Server w/ Verizon
I have a westell 6100 modem from verizon with the local IP of 192.168.1.1 and a linksys wireless router with the local IP of 192.168.0.1 and WAN IP of 192.168.1.47
I have a web server setup with a static address of 192.168.0.103 The modem is forwarded to 1.47, and the router port forwarded to 0.103. I cannot access my server with the external IP/domain name though.
I have asked Verizon support and they do not block port 80 and do allow web servers on their network, but no matter what I try, I am unable to access my web server externally.
Any suggestions?
Thx,

| Verizon *does* block port 80 on all dynamic-IP accounts, and on a residential connection servers are a TOS violation.
So you might want to double-check. Try forwarding a different external port (i.e. 8080) to your webserver and see ifyou can hit it from the outside on :8080.
Also, if your WAN IP is 192.168.1.47,then that is NOT your WAN IP. You are likely behind a 2nd router, and need to forward ports in two places. |

| reply to Ndoftaworld Have you looked into a web hosting account? For less than $50 per year you can get a hosting account that wont soak up all your DSL upload bandwidth. If your hosted website gets hacked you can upload it from a backup. -- Jim Anderson |

| reply to Ndoftaworld Thx for replying. Port 80 works just fine, but for some reason I cannot access my site with the external IP/domain from inside my LAN. Oh well, at least I know it works.
I will probably upload it to a web host, but I'm setting it up and testing all my scripts from my server first before I spend any money on a host to have down time.
Thx
