Yes. America, home of $10/mo Caller ID. Remember a prepaid cellphone can be cheaper than $10/mo based on usage.

Barely, since they set a minimum charge of 1 dollar per each day you use the phone. So one call a day, that may be 30-60 minutes a month of calling will at minimum cost you 30 bucks. It was was actually per minute that same amount of calling would cost only 7.50-15 a month at 25 cents a minute. So prepaid doesn't work for anything but 100% emergency usage.

Depends on usage and carrier selected. Pretty obvious.

A couple $5 or less per month no usage plans.

Oddly enough, it's only AT&T's prepaid wireless that has that stupid per day access charge. I'm on VirginMobile, if I wanted to I could buy the $90 minute pack once a year, and pay 18c a minute. They have other options as well, it's certainly not $30 a month just to HAVE the phone.

Great web page. I used that one recently in deciding to get my daughter set up with AirVoice.

t-mobile prepaid is as low as 10 cents a minute. if you buy $100 (1000 minutes) and attain "gold" status, your number and minutes do not expire for 1 year.

prepaid works if you use the right provider. at&t prepaid doesn't make sense.
