Crippled how? You mean not working? or locked out of the web config pages.

15meg tier depends on the quality of your line, if you can post your line stats here I could take a look.

Crippled as in no access from the LAN side, I can not see the modem it is transparent.

The only line stats I have are from the d-link modem from the verizon line.

Can not get line stats or I would gladly post them(crippled).
When the dlink was hooked up to verizon it said I could about 16 and change if it would work without being in bridge and give line stats. it appears they do not want you to know.

Thank you for your answer.

The modem has to be in bridge or routed bridge with GWI, what modem did they send you?

Even when in bridge mode you can manually enter a LAN IP into your network card and that will allow you to get to stats. I do that all the time with a speedstream 4200 and a westell 6100, with the westell you can just stay in plain old bridge mode and use the Westell diagnostic tool tool without entereing a private LAN IP, once you have the tool open press ctrl alt and F7 to get to all the advanced stats.

How do you find the static to enter it ,appears to give me there LAN address going to the address and change the last number give me no access, I can not give it a LAN side address as it has none at this end it comes from there router?

I have spent all week trying to get this, tech at first gave me over and over check filters etc.
They then set it to 10 and said when we fix the phone we will try again.
On a other note no one can give me a password to get into email, phone (voice mail) or see my account. I am deaf and do not use the phone They refuse to mail it to me and demand I call, this has been tried and did not work, I have to say not the service I was hoping for.

thank for the reply

First off what modem did they send you? Also you will not be able to get the line stats from behind a router, you need to take the router out of the picture.

I have one of these new Zhone modems, and it is possible to reach the configuration pages. Fairly simple procedure, actually. Manually set up your NIC with the following settings:

IP Address: 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Of course you need to be directly connected to the modem if you're in bridge mode. Username/password @ 192.168.1.1 are both "admin". I'm on the 15Mbit tier, by the way. Around 4k feet from my CO. 10.2dB/8dB SNR; 45dB/21.6dB attenuation.

If you have a 45db attenuation then its safe to say you are closer to 10.500 feet. On and ADSL2+ profile im at 28bd attenuation which is around 6 to 7000 feet.

Well if that's true GWI has lied to me. I guess I need to do my own fancy calculations from now on.

This is a pretty good tool for estimating CO distance, though line conditions and wire type make a big difference too.

I have had no luck seeing the interface of the zhone and it will not work with my westell 6100 or my d-link dsl-2630 modem or my brightpoint modem. The setting do not work it times out.

The toy zhone work the way they send it and appears to prevent any changes.

The support are adamant that there is no way that I can access it so I am at there whims and I give up.

On a side note I have found 8 people looking up this problem and no one had it work out of the box, so I do not believe it is my Problem rather this is done to prevent the user from seeing speed, line stats.etc.

this tool only works if you can see your stats when I had verizon, they said I was 11,000 feet, I am about a 1/2 mile walk to the co( I am aware the cables do not go the way I walk there, but that give you an Idea I am right in town.

no its an interactive tool, you enter your attenuation manually to get the estimation.

I can not see the modem stats so I can not use the tool.

I agree, a lot of ISPs lock the modems down to keep there customers out. My Speedstream from GWI was password protected and GWI said that they didnt know the password and username, in the end I just downloaded the latest firmware for it and flashed it, then I could use the default username/PW from the manual, I had to reconfigure it but that was simple.

There is a firmware available for your modem on Zhones site but do the update and your own risk, if you corrupt the modem in any way you are responsible.
