[AZ] Constant Pixelation/Artifact/Sound Stuttering Mess on my T

I'm so so tired of the constant sound stuttering, picture hesitating, pixelation, blocking, and all around crappy reception and service I am getting with my Cox Digital HD service in NE Phx.

I have the SA 8300 HD DVR box. Normally it's the worse in starting in the late afternoons during the week for some reason but today it's unbearable. I could hardly stand watching the Suns game (which was depressing all on it's own).

Cox tells me they can't do anything unless their person is here at the exact moment this happens, which is like russian roulette.

What causes this generally? Is it the box? I really need someone to tell me how to handle this. I'm an inch away from taking the satellite jump like my neighbor across the street did.

Thanks

Re: [AZ] Constant Pixelation/Artifact/Sound Stuttering Mess on

Could be signal issues, A box overheating or a bad box.

Does it happen on every channel?

Have you had a tech out to inspect everything?

It only happens on the channels I'm watching

Seriously it's happening across the board, any channel, recorded shows.

I talked to someone the other day and they said they could only help if the tech was here when it was happening so I'm supposed to call after I pinpoint the exact moments. Ya ok.

As I'm typing this I can hear the tv voices sounding like the people are getting electrocuted as they speak.

I also had problems with that Suns game in the 4th quarter, at one point there was no picture but audio was there. It finally cleared up with about 3 or 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

I think it was ABC that was having issues with the HD feed. I checked the signal level on my SA 4240HDC Box and the levels were well within specs.

I had the same problem with my digital box. I went through 2 boxes before i just said screw it. I ended up just going SD connected to my LCD tv...and it still happens! lame. It might be worth going satellite...but that has it's share of problems too.

BusterMattie,

Could you PM me either your cable modem's HFC mac address or the serial number on the back of the receiver? The serial number is in the form of SABxxxxxx on the left hand side on the back on the bar code sticker. I would definitely be happy to take a look at this issue for you.

Thanks,

I had a similar situation a while back with my SD box. ESPN was pixeling and the program guide was giving no information. After placing a call, they sent a reset signal to the box and everything was back to normal in about 5 minutes.

If it was just one station or sporadic for me I could almost live with it but it's any station, everyday, mainly from mid-late afternoon through the evening.

Chris, I sent my info. Thanks for looking into it!

So I pm'd the info that Chris asked for on 4/22 and no response.

My cable tv service is horrible. I just spent I don't know how long on the phone with the automated "woman" making me jump through the pull the cord and reboot hoops.

Then I was transferred to a rep, only to be disconnected. Now I'm trying to call and I'm getting an "all circuits are busy" message.

My cable picture is basically frozen. On some stations I have stuttering sound and NO picture.

My life with Cox is fast coming to an end.

I don't see him online today but I'll send him a e-mail reminding him to swing by and let you know what's going on.

Any update BusterMattie?
I have a good friend with a similar issue with the freezing picture/stuttering sound, so I'm interested to see what happens for you.

No, nothing yet. Got a response from Chris and waiting for him to call so we can set up a time for them to come out this week.

I don't have high hopes of there being a resolution. My neighbor moved to Satellite because of a similar unresolved issue. I'll keep you updated.

So the tech came out Wednesday and immediately saw the problem I was having. He did a lot of testing, switched out connectors and things (not the box) but the problem didn't go away.

He then hooked a box up directly to the big box across the street (not sure why he didn't do that first) and determined it was an issue there, or with whatever was feeding that box.

He told me someone would be out within 48 hours to check that and would call. No call. So I called tech support and they said someone would now call me by noon tomorrow.

The tech that was here also told me he was on his way to check out the same issue with a person around the corner. Wonder how many households have to be affected before they do whatever it takes to fix that box.

In the meantime, today was pixel hell. I will be requesting and complaining for a service credit if it is not fixed tomorrow.
