| [SWX] Unseasonably cold weather expected across NW California
It's only 40 here right now (6:45 PM), and snow and rain showers are just a couple of hours from us in Redwood Valley. It looks to stay cold and unsettled for the next several days.
"A cold area of low pressure aloft currently over British Colombia will settle southwards over Oregon and Washington later this afternoon.
Rain showers will begin to develop across northern portions of northwest California this morning... with shower activity increasing through the afternoon and evening hours for the remainder of the region. Rain will begin to mix with snow later this afternoon as unseasonably cold air filters into the region through the day.
Snow levels will lower from around 3500 to 4000 feet in the morning down to 2500 feet by the late afternoon. Snow levels will lower further late Saturday night to between 1500 and 2500 feet. With warm ground temperatures in place... only brief snow accumulations of up to an inch are expected.
With low freezing levels... elevations down to the coast may see small hail or a light snow mix in heavier showers Saturday night and during the day on Sunday.
Freezing overnight temperatures are expected tonight and Sunday night... especially in regions sheltered from wind. Efforts should be undertaken to move or cover plants which are susceptible to the cold. Motorists traveling through the region this weekend should be prepared for cold temperatures... slippery and hazardous driving conditions. For the latest weather information check NOAA Weather Radio or www.Weather.Gov/Eureka." -- »www.freightrailworks.org »www.amtrak.com »www.amtrakcalifornia.com »www.metrolinktrains.com »www.up.com »www.bnsf.com »www.aslrra.org/home/index.cfm |

| Didn't really mean to imply you did,,, but tornado season started when this year??? Like XMAS/Jan vs just typically NOW?
And us being near the tropics DOOM and GLOOM hurricane forcasts after catastrophic 2004/5 but nothing since for going on 3 years now but mid America tornado/flood/blizzard nuts crazy?
Again one of the ways most don't think of Global Warming works the poles and equator go dead... and the midlands go nuts.
Fact is VERY SERIOUS S* IS going on... most want to say is a normal phase.... though to degree has NEVER happened bfore we know of.... but when OIL was formed we may put back....
Kast time yhe worls and ocean currents went dead and the oceans died and all those organics died to make the oil, that die off to take out that carbon of the atmosphere, we have now buy back by burning it. -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)
