 | ADSL 2 NOW IN LEXINGTON SAYS AD In today's Sunday edition of the Lexington Herald Leader newspaper I found a color Windstream ad that says that the 12 meg speed is now ready in Lexington. The ad says that 3, 6 and the new 12 meg speeds are $19.99 for the first 6 months. It says now even faster speeds available in your neighborhood. It also says Windstream has increased their broadband speeds. So according to this ad ADSL 2 has finally arrived in Lexington! |
|
 | DAMN! I shouldve got the paper today. I guess it official now. |
|
 | reply to dsl in lexington interesting ... |
|
 | reply to dsl in lexington Well apples and beans.
I want ADSL2+!
Does that mean the 1.5meg tier and 512 is no longer existent?
Does it say anything about upload?
I guess I'll learn more when it comes here =] |

|
 | The ad only showed the 3, 6 and 12 meg speeds. The ad said nothing about upload. |

1 edit | Any ideal how much the 12 meg package costs? I know when I upgraded to the 6 meg earlier this year I couldn't get the $19.99 price because I wasn't a new customer.
I'm currently paying $35 for the 6 meg.
How do you check on the website to see if your area has the new speeds? |

 | Thanks. According to the website I should be able to get 1.5 and thats it. It doesn't list the 6 meg package that I currently have. Maybe it hasn't been updated yet. |
|
 | LOL after all that hype, shadow couldn't even get the scoop! :-D
This is great news, I will order tomorrow, but they will have to send me a 4200 modem because I don't have one. |
|
 | reply to dsl in lexington Interestingly, I live practically across the street from the CO that Shadow works in and when I put my number in on the website it says nothing about 12mb speeds. We will see what they say tomorrow I guess. |
|
 | reply to dsl in lexington Correction, as of today it now says:
Broadband 12 Mbps $19.99 per month Download Max. Speed of 12.0 Mbps, Upload Max Speed of 768 Kbps. Pricing good for first 6 months and requires qualifying services. After six months, current list price applies. |

1 edit | reply to dsl in lexington OK I just called and ordered the 12mb. It is $45/mo, and if you get Greenstreak the whole package is $50 per month. I tried to get the 19.99 promo but he would not give it to me, even after saying I would sign a 1 year contract, etc. He said he looked it up and there are no $19.99 promos in Lexington. |

I'll put in my order later this week. I just checked and it is listed as being available to me on Windstream.com. It wasn't listed yesterday. How long does it take to get upgraded?
Also does anyone know how the bundles for phone/internet work?
I have the connect unlimited phone plan, and 6 meg fiber broadband right now. On the bill it shows $44.99 for the phone, and $34.99 for the fiber before taxes, fees, etc... Also is the $4.99 protection plan normal on your bill? I don't remember signing up for it, and have no clue what it does. I looked online and it says there is a connect unlimited/broadband bundle for $64.98. It says it includes any Broadband package. I guess I need to call them and see if that includes the 6 meg I have now, or even the 12. Looking at the web and then at my bill I got today it really looks like I'm paying more than I should. |

 | He told me it would be active as of tomorrow morning, but I don't have a 4200 modem so they are shipping me one for free. |

I'm going to call this afternoon, and setup the upgrade. |

 | reply to dsl in lexington I have called Windstream today trying to see what new speed I qualify for. They tell me that their speed qualify tool is having problems. They said their computers were having problems today. Anyone having problems trying to find out what new speed you qualify for when you call Windstream? |

I'm the phone with them now and they wanted to ship me a new modem for free also, even though I have a 4200..But all that's needed is a firmware update (which I've already done). In any event I have a spare 4200 that I will make sure the firmware is updated and it will be provisioned tomorrow will keep u updated -- Windstream DSL 3000/384 SS 4200(briged) WRT54GL WDS to 3 WRT54G's as wireless repeaters all running Tomato(v1.18) 8 boxes 4 wired, 4 wireless. 1 edit | reply to dsl in lexington Anyone got any Speedtest pictures and what is the price after 6 months? |
|
 | reply to dsl in lexington update- Called Windstream back and was told that they would have to send a request to the speed provision department to see what speed my line could handle above my current 3 meg. They said it could take 2 days to check the line for the new speeds. They will call to tell me what new speed I qualify for. |
