| reply to dsl in lexington Yesterday and today I have been in contact with Windstream trying to find out if I can be upgraded to the 6 or 12 speed from my current 3 meg. I have been told that 3 meg is all my area can get at this time. I was told that my local wire center on Wilson Downing Road is not ready to handle 6 or 12 meg speeds. They said a tech did a field test and said the Wilson Downing office can only handle up to 3 meg. Is it really true that the Wilson Downing office can't handle any speed above 3 meg? I feel like Windstream is telling me what was available with the old adsl technology and not looking at what is available with the new adsl 2 technology. Could it be that not all of the Wilson Downing office service areas have been upgraded for the new speeds yet? |

I doubt it, that is the 2nd largest office in town, I'll see what I can dig up this week. |

@alltel.net | That is what I thought. I think the Windstream customer service people are giving me wrong information. Maybe their speed qualify tool still has not been updated yet. Thanks for your reply. |

| Just put in my upgrade and they were not sure it would go though. According to their computer I can only get 3 meg, but I have 6 meg on fiber. He put in the 12 meg plan and it went though.
Of course they said I would get the first 6 months for $19.99, but that didn't happen when I did the 6 meg upgrade a few months ago. They told me 12 meg was $49.99, then told me it was $44.99. So who knows... I guess I'll find out when my bill comes in next month. Both times I've called Windstream this week they are very confused about the new speeds. I guess its where its new.
Anyway I should have the upgrade in about 3 days according to the guy I spoke with. |

I have to stick with Static IP so it looks like the new speeds are out of my reach price-wise. Oh well...
12m/768 is 119.99/mo with a 3 year contract. 12m/1m is 129.99/mo with 3 year contract. |

They do have a plan without static but after said and done it's $100 or more a month. Ouch.............

Put in my phone number on the windstream.com page. Said 12, 3 and 1.5 available so what happened to 512?
So I call, expecting nothing, got nothing. Was told it was not an error on the web site that some numbers in my exchange can get 12 M.
So I know half the people in this small town. I gave her a phone number feed by the CO and one each for the 4 remotes from our CO. None where available for 12M, nothing over 3m.
So I asked then which lines can get it? She said some. hahahahah. I said I just went through every possible feed, and all people that live very close to the remotes and CO.
She said I don't know, it shows some of your exchange is available.
Thank you, Good Bye
We are indeed still scheduled for ADSL2 for 2012 unless bumped off the budget.
My cow said that sucks.............

Another thing, technically youre CO equipment cant provide adsl2, that is why a order to move you to the adsl2 equipment is needed. The service reps have no idea what needs to be done physically. |

ROFL I am 2-3 blocks from the Wilson Downing CO. I have had 6mb for a year and just upgraded to 12mb on Monday. What a scam! WS appears to be falling apart from the inside due to this upgrade.
Shadow, I thought you worked in that wire center??? |

| I'm just real surprised right now at the whole situation, as far as I know, nobody in operations was notified about the adsl2 start date, knew it was coming, just didnt know when. in the past they have started with soft rollouts in specific areas, then company wide. Its pretty chaotic right now, hopefully things will smooth over in the next few weeks. |

| reply to shadowfax Shadowfax what should I tell the customer service people? Every time I call they say only 3 meg is available. But they did tell me today that they are still working on the new speeds in my area. Should I tell them to try and put the order in to move me to the adsl 2 equipment? Also are you talking about adsl 2 equipment that is some place on the outside plant near the Wilson Downing office? Thanks for the information. |

shadowfax Premium join:2007-01-06 Lexington, KY | The equipment is inside the central office, probably on the shelf right next to the old dslam. Send me a pm with youre home phone number and i will call the office tomorrow and find out what is going on. |

Shadow, I thought you worked in that wire center??? So you already have the 12mb speeds? I upgraded today. I called on Monday, but they said the computers were messed up. They told me on Monday when I placed the upgrade it should be done in about 24 hours. Today I was told around 3 days.
Should I call them tomorrow if I don't see the new speeds? or wait? |

The PIG has squealed, er spoken. No frankly I was bitching. Now I am way behind again. I spend 7 years on a modem when DSL was down the street thanks to Alltel. I can say once WS took over they did bring me 3M but they had also run out of possible territory to expand their DSL.
So I wait again, anyone want to start a lottery when Piggie gets to break 3072 ? I could sell days for a buck. Months for $5 and years for $50. Of course I would keep all the proceeds being a pig. :@)
Maybe the lot of us that were not upgraded should start a WS wide petition calling ourselves "The Forgotten DSLAMs"
lol.
At least my 3m has been rock stable for months.
So now I shut up, call sales once a week to month seeing when they roll out, but that probably a waste of time.
Maybe cable will upgrade here first and WS will feel the love, no I mean the heat........... -- | Speedstream 4200 Modem - 3m/384 plan | W98-W2KSP4-XPSP2 - All AMD | Buffalo WHR G54S with Tomato 1.13 | 3 downstream switches feeding 6 total clients (no wireless) | Including the Data port on the side of my neck | |
