I finally got a hold of an of shore tech person that appeared to know what he was doing. I have been getting the run around for a couple of days. He look at the issue that I am having. He stated that I was not upgraded yet despite what I have been told and if it was on a week day he could of made a call to the department that handles this to get it resolved. Is this deja vu? I went through this same ordeal when I upgraded to 6mbps service. I guess I have to buckle up and prepare for the another long ride.

personally, we should just forget about these threads. THey will upgrade you when they are ready. otherwise we are just putting more stress and headache on them, when its NOT needed.

and reminding the rest of us out on the end of the loops how low on the WS food chain we really are, causing us to get upset also. They told me I would have DSL in a couple of years after then killed my 43K modem speeds with an RT but in only took 7 years to actually put in DSLAMS after the RT was fiber feed for 3 years. Now even though fiber feed, they say my DSLAMs or something between the fiber and them can't support over 3m. So I just figure, add 7 more years to 2006 then round to me having ADSL2 in 2012. By then Lexington will have chips in their brains and won't need computers. Just fiber to the curb and free operation with a rebate for the chip in your brain.

Ok I got silly! :@)

Finally back online. Seems I was too far for DSL 6MB on the SpeedStream 5100. Someone came out today and took some line measurements, went back and switched me over to DSL2. Replaced the modem with SpeedStream 4100; went back thru an activation process and all is good again. After the activation using the PPPoE within the modem, I was able to reset and use my router PPPoE. The logon user name changed, had to add @windstream.net to my logon. Need to test some new tweaks but I am getting near full 6MB. SNR is staying around 6, while the attenuation is between 49 and 51.

It's been a week since I called to upgrade.

Is that long enough to call back yet?

Come on bro, you think I haven't done that 10 times a day for the last week? Give me some credit.

Heck my old 4100 modem even still syncs, which I did not think should be possible on a ADSL2 pin?

guess it is back to 3MB... The 6MB is nice but the modem will not stay consistent in the evening hours, after 8PM. They sent out another truck this AM but by then the signal was fine by then. The tech said he thinks I am too far out to pull 6MB even on DSL2. The dsl page is full of crc errors and the rate fluctuates between 7100000 and 5500000. There are packet failures on almost every hop. During the morning and afternoon hours everything seems fine. On 3MB, there has not been much of a problem, day or night. So in the AM I will going to track down the local office to get it knocked back down. I can't handle another phone call to India tech support. After last nights call I about canceled my service and switched to cable modem/phone. It is just downright insulting...

Hey guys, this is all I am going to say for now:

09:09:23 (1.19 MB/s) - `adsltst2.big' saved [41937336]

Also a big thank you to Shadowfax for making this happen. I will post an official speed test when I get home from work.

i'm thinking about calling and seeing about upgrading to 3 mb again, but i would rather just have more upload and fast path. Im wondering tho, if i do upgrade, would that be adsl2 then? Or just adsl? How would i know?

Everything depends on if you are on a adsl2 equipped CALIX dslam. But even the new 3 meg package has the same upload speed, but the download has been increased to 3.5 meg , only the 12 meg packaged has the increased upload.
