Seems I was too far for DSL 6MB on the SpeedStream 5100. Someone came out today and took some line measurements, went back and switched me over to DSL2. Replaced the modem with SpeedStream 4100; went back thru an activation process and all is good again. After the activation using the PPPoE within the modem, I was able to reset and use my router PPPoE. The logon user name changed, had to add @windstream.net to my logon. Need to test some new tweaks but I am getting near full 6MB. and reminding the rest of us out on the end of the loops how low on the WS food chain we really are, causing us to get upset also. They told me I would have DSL in a couple of years after then killed my 43K modem speeds with an RT but in only took 7 years to actually put in DSLAMS after the RT was fiber feed for 3 years. Now even though fiber feed, they say my DSLAMs or something between the fiber and them can't support over 3m. So I just figure, add 7 more years to 2006 then round to me having ADSL2 in 2012. By then Lexington will have chips in their brains and won't need computers. Just fiber to the curb and free operation with a rebate for the chip in your brain.

I really don't know. I knew I'd have problems upgrading to the 12 meg package, because of the trouble I had to get the 6 meg.

I hope it goes though. They are actually sending out people to test the lines in my area to see if I can get 12 meg. They said it might take 48 hours to do everything, and if I don't have any upgrades by Monday to call them. Not trying to sound down on Windstream, because my service has been very good, and the packages are well priced, but I can almost bet I'll have to call on Monday.

I guess it could be as simple as my area isn't ready for ADSL2. I'm not sure though. However if I put my phone number into the Windstream.com website the highest package is 3 meg. However I've had the 6 meg for a few months with no problems and excellent speeds.

The fiber help desk was just afraid that since it says only 3 meg on their computers that if they give me the 12 meg it might not work right. Really doesn't surprise me. They had problems upgrading me to the 6 meg earlier this year. Even though I have a fiber install their computers pull my phone number up as only being able to get 3 meg. No frankly I was bitching. Now I am way behind again. I spend 7 years on a modem when DSL was down the street thanks to Alltel. I can say once WS took over they did bring me 3M but they had also run out of possible territory to expand their DSL.

So I wait again, anyone want to start a lottery when Piggie gets to break 3072 ? I could sell days for a buck. Months for $5 and years for $50. Of course I would keep all the proceeds being a pig. :@)

So I call, expecting nothing, got nothing. Was told it was not an error on the web site that some numbers in my exchange can get 12 M.

So I know half the people in this small town. I gave her a phone number feed by the CO and one each for the 4 remotes from our CO. None where available for 12M, nothing over 3m.

So I asked then which lines can get it? She said some. hahahahah. I said I just went through every possible feed, and all people that live very close to the remotes and CO.

She said I don't know, it shows some of your exchange is available.

Instead of the modem holding the username and password, they are held by the aggrigator at the main exchange Redback routers. I connected directly to my PC no network gear in the chain and I still could not get it to upgrade. I'm the phone with them now and they wanted to ship me a new modem for free also, even though I have a 4200..But all that's needed is a firmware update (which I've already done). In any event I have a spare 4200 that I will make sure the firmware is updated and it will be provisioned tomorrow :D
