Phorm

I stumbled on these forums by accident, and for a broadband forum i'm stunned theres but ONE single thread on PHORM.

I cant reply to that thread, its more than two weeks old.

PHORM is the biggest single threat to your privacy and personal data that has ever existed. BT has already run an illegal trial in which the skimmed the page content of ever single page requested by HTTP for an undisclosed number of users for up to a week.

PHORM reads everything you do. It read every word on every single page, even forms you fill in online, web based mail pages, every single thing, and build a profile up about you.

Look at it like this - what would you do if every letter that arrived in your mailbox at home had been opened and read by the GPO, and every phone call you make listened into by the Telco? Thats what PHORM does to your internet connection.

Now PHORM claim it anonymous, but then if you believe that they can preserve your anonymity with the system they are using, you'll also prolly still be clinging to beliefs like Santa and the Tooth Fairy.

I cant even begin to explain in detail what a gross invasion of your privacy PHORM is, or how it steals the bandwidth you pay for (it forces your browser to send each page request twice)

Phorm itself is run by 121Media, a company that employs top russian spyware and virus writers, another good reason to stay away from it like the Plague.

The Office Of the Information Commissioner said, after a rapid backtrack, that Phorm may be illegal, but isnt really taking a tough enough stance.

Get off your butts, guy and COMPLAIN to Virgin and BT, your MP and the OIC. before Big brother really DOES get here.
