Since Friday the news server is allowing me only one (1) connection (had been working fine for several weeks prior). If I set my newsreader to 2 connections, I get an immediate 502 error, and eventually my connection is banned for some minutes. If I leave my reader set at one connection it works fine, but I'm getting only half of the bandwidth that dslextreme is paying these people for and promoting to users.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

| reply to News User In talking w/ a Cox subscriber from San Diego, a lot of the "502 errors" are generated by the highwinds server not releasing the IP after disconnect. The next time you are connected to the news server, it "sees" your last connection as current, thus disconnecting you for "too many connections" to the news server. Perhaps not directly a DSLX problem, and hard to document from the DSLX path to news server, Cox was finally able to get highwinds to correct the front-end authentication server problem. In a nutshell, the problem is with highwinds. Getting it resolved is another matter. |
