Re: Modern browser with system requiements below K-Meleon? said by cdigioia:And I know 128mb is painfully low, she'll upgrade sometime here, I'm simply curious. The problem the user has is that the system has limited memory, so looking only at the browser would be limiting the user's options to resolve resource limitations. K-Meleon is about as small as you can get. I recommend thinking outside the box and trying an alternate boot with DSL. The whole OS can run on a 486 DX with 16 MB of RAM, so the user's 128 MB suddenly becomes more than enough. Create a live CD and try it -- Mayors of New York come from nowhere and go nowhere. | Just downloaded, created a boot CD, booted up DSL and logged in on the Dillo browser. DOn't look for fancy graphics capability with Dillo. If that's an issue, DSL also has a Firefox build with it. However, along with the functional additions comes memory usage, so trade off as needed. -- Mayors of New York come from nowhere and go nowhere. Wallace Sayre (apparently, so do governors... ) |
