5-Day Weather Forecast Discussion April 22-26

540 PM EDT Mon. April 21, 2008

Short Term

An upper ;low over the Northwest will send several disturbances into the region. Moisture will spread into the northern Rockies. The heaviest precipitation will fall across the Cascades into northern California. A weather system in Canada will continue to lift northeast while pushing a cold front east. This will cause rain and thunderstorms across the northern Plains into the Great Lakes. Moisture from the gulf will interact with the system resulting in showers and thunderstorms will develop across the southern Plains and the lower Mississippi Valley on Tuesday. An upper level disturbance over the mid-Atlantic region will maintain an easterly flow resulting on mostly cloudy skies and heavy rainfall across Pennsylvania to the Carolinas.

Long Term

High pressure will build across the West pushing a cold front through the Rockies on Thursday and into the Plains on Friday. The system will cause rain and storms as it pushes east. The threat of storms will be greatest across the southern Plains on Thursday as a dryline pushes east. The front will push into the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys by Saturday accompanied by rain and storms. Further east, high pressure will cover the region with fair and dry conditions.

Why is it that people who don't care about the weather are the first to bitch about it when it changes
