Re: [Home Networking] Sync Loss when connected to router

I think that's what I did before but it wouldn't let me access the modem. Anyway, I reconnected like you said and after 3 hours finally got a DSL sync light and PPPoE. But it's been cutting in and out even as I type this. I found I was also able to access the modem and router wirelessly from my laptop in the other room.

Here's the new stats from the modem

ADSL Status ADSL Connection Up
Resync Count 0
ADSL Mode G.DMT
Downstream Bit Rate 1536 Kbps
Upstream Bit Rate 896 Kbps
Downstream Capacity Occupation 20 %
Downstream Noise Margin 42.61 dB
Downstream Attenuation 5.17 dB
Downstream Output Power 19.73 dBm
Upstream Capacity Occupation 84 %
Upstream Noise Margin 18.00 dB
Upstream Attenuation 8.00 dB
Upstream Output Power 12.50 dBm

They look about the same to me.

Could the X-Box have done something wierd to the router? I think I forgot to mention that the signal seemed to drop at peak hours, locally. Evenings and Weekends, but now it's happening more and more. I thought maybe the increase in traffic at those times might have something to do with it, but the fact that it worked fine when I didn't use the router confused me.

That is very strange and I agree that the numbers are not drastically changed so I don't know what to suggest next unless it is just the Modem going bad over time and possibly needs replacement. Do you have a friend, neighbor or co-worker that may have a DSL Modem that you can borrow for testing?
