Roche1972 : Judging from your question Dan, I guess you did not receive the letter Verizon is sending out to FiOS TV customers telling them about the transition from analog to digital on channels 2 through 49. Since you're from NJ (so am I), the transition will begin in June. Anyway, the letter says that they are offering free digital adapters (limit 3 according to what I was told on the phone by Verizon) for TV sets that currently do not have a digital adapter, set top box, DVR or cablecard. In order to receive them free, you must be a current FiOS TV customer and reside at the same address. The digital adapter cannot view VOD, widgets or IMG nor can it receive HD or record. According to the letter I had received, Northern NJ FiOS TV customers have until April 30 to get the free adapters. I received mine from UPS on Monday (I had ordered last Thursday). I followed the easy instructions, called the activation number and I was able to receive all the channels I subscribe to in less than 15 minutes (the instructions said 30 minutes but mine was activated in less than that). I sure hope that I don't get billed for my free digital adapter when my next bill comes. I have heard that some customers have been charged for them plus a $19.99 installation fee which is ridiculous since the digital adapters are self-installed.
