Here is some additional information:

Cnet has posted a review warning that Norton 360 v2 may cause grief for legacy hardware computers. Since you're running Windows XP, you may be in this category.

Red Stick		 used the Norton uninstall and reinstalled original 360 from disk on all machines. so far so good.

thanks for the link. (1 yr old Dell XPS w/ XPPro = legacy system?)
