I have had Fios since May of 2005 and Vonage for almost a year prior. Both coexist extremely well - in fact, I have 3 Vonage lines now, compared to 2005.
Sounds to me like it was a greedy salesperson looking to make some extra dough or meet a quota. I wonder how many other times he/she has pulled this?
