They Would be better off ......

Buying and recreating/re-invent AOL's Netscape Nav and fix it from what AOL did to it make a mobile version.

Or

Asking for Google to help create a browser to fit their needs.

Though ATT cash rich has to spend the money somewhere besides provisioning POTS.

How about Google creates the browser, WITHOUT AT&T?

Seriously, those companies are exactly opposite of each other. Google innovative, clued, and fresh. AT&T old, greedy, clueless, and anything but fresh!

Clearly not up on your browser history- for the most part the "Mozilla" development team is an outgrowth of Netscape- AOL shut down most of the division. Firefox is really basically an outgrowth of the old Netscape Navigator (actually, SeaMonkey, the former Mozilla suite, is a more direct successor)... so you already have your Netscape successor.
