sides14 : I recently began having the same problem in the Arrowhead area. Previously, my speeds were outstanding. Out of the blue, I started getting high ping times and slow DL speeds. Cox sent a tech on Sunday morning at 0800 to evaluate the problem - great speeds at 0800 on Sunday's. Luckily the tech lives up the street and was able to look into the problem when I called. The issue has been sent to the next level for resolution.

[AZ] Moved to Arrowhead, now strange speed decreases

s_rage : Please bear with me as I attempt to word this as best as I can..

I moved to the Arrowhead Ranch area last week. I did an initial speedtest.net check, and my download speed was more than 11000kb/s. I was pretty psyched for this, as I'd never had more than 7000kb/s previously.

This week, though, I've noticed extreme slowdowns, but never at a certain specific time. I get great speeds for a while, then horrible speeds, then great speeds again for no apparent reason.

For example, I just ran another speedtest.net test and got only 3100kb/s. An hour ago, I'd gotten more than 10000kb/s. I'm not downloading anything or doing anything else on the computer while I run the tests.

(Upload speed has been consistent around 550kb/s on all tests.)

During the "slowdown" times, it takes a very long time to first get to a web page, and then longer while the images download. It's almost like I'm using a telephone modem.

My signals are as follows, but as far as I can tell they look good:
Down SNR - 37 dB
Down Power Level - 3 dBmV
Up Power Level - 42 dBmV

I did a line quality test during one of these slowdowns. Between my IP address and the first hop, I got 1 packet lost during the "East coast to you" test, and 12 packets lost during the "West cost to you" test.

There, I think that's everything that would normally be asked for in a 'speed issues' thread. Please let me know if you can shed some light on this!
