Nvidia driver updates question

Hi

I'm still using 169.21 Video drivers for my MSI 8600GT OC edition video card? should i update to the beta Nvidia drivers or wait for offical release to come out again(I do not use the overclock features of this card--don't want it overheating)

I will when i get newer fans into PC case though, side intake, and front intake.

Re: Nvidia driver updates question

I would not update till you have a problem - either performance or a bug that is fixed with e driver release.

Like the other guy said, only upgrade to a beta if you are having a problem that the beta is supposed to fix or you need a feature that only the beta offers.

I use an HDTV for a monitor, so I am using the beta since it has better support options for HDTV's. But honestly, none of the features do anything I need, but I dont feel like uninstalling it and reinstalling the old one. It works just as good for me as the old one.

Re: Nvidia driver updates question

Well gaming performance is great, and all that, so i guess i don't really need to update after all, and just wait for next offical release whenever that is

1 edit
Nvidia still hasn't updated their drivers for the 8800GT for like 4 months.

Re: Nvidia driver updates question

Yeah it's been a long while it looks like for offical driver updates for the Geforce 8 Series cards, but i guess one will come eventually, i hope at least, then again no real issues i'm having with my 8600GT at least

I've found that using the latest beta drivers even I dont have a problem ususally increases my performance in games.

Latest drivers out for nvidia are 175.16s on betas which can be found on the nvidia site, all beta status means is that Microsoft hasn't digitally signed the driver which means absolutely nothing.

Re: Nvidia driver updates question

I'm using 175.51, which are the latest WHQL drivers on an 8800GT. They are very good.
