[Speed Problem] Enabled Caller ID Service - Upstream Drop/Downst

I have the Elite package and was getting 5.5Mbps+/750kbps+ regularly. I added caller-id service to the landline and now DL goes from 800kbps to 5Mbps. UP speeds don't go pass 550kbps. This speed change happened EXACTLY after the caller-id service was active. I'd like to keep the caller id but would that cause a drop in DSL speed.

Anyone else have this problem? Thx.

Re: [Speed Problem] Enabled Caller ID Service - Upstream Drop/Do

Have you put a CID box by itself on your phone line that doesn't have its own microfilter? That is about the only thing that might cause a loss of DSL speed with caller id service.

I'm sure lots of people have caller id and DSL together without any problems. I don't have any.

No separate CID box. CID is built-in to the phone. Phone is in another room with a filter. There's only 1 phone that is connected to the line. DSL line comes straight from the wall to the modem in another room.

The only change was adding CID service, no hardware/other change at all.

Restarting and Powercycling the modem, 90% of the time gets me back to 4.5 to 5Mbps Down/550Kbps Up but it hasn't gone back to 6Mbps/768Kbps that I had prior to getting CID service.

What modem model is it? We have diagnostic tests here for problems like this on the 5100b, 4100, or 4100b.

There are no physical changes in the field for adding services. A change order is generated by the business office to add the service to the switch. That shouldnt modify your ADSL profile at all

I will bet that you work off an RT. You need to post in Direct and ask for them to check the settings on your card in the RT for proper CID use.

Appears that letting it sit for about a week, the speed issue was resolved. If anyone from the direct forums did anything, they did not inform me.
