n9ae : TDSMadtown, I completely agree with you regarding TDS service. See my post regarding my WiMAX nightmare. Before I retired I worked in networking for the State of WI and For the UW for 20 years and have had many struggles with SBC / AT&T and Charter. With the exception of their Badgernet contract with the State TDS has always been a breath of fresh air.

Not any more. They have as much as told me, "we don't really care of you continue as a customer. We WILL NOT be flexible.

It's sad.

anon : This wasn't the case a few years ago. They had no issues with getting ATT out to service things. Now you need a specific intturuption in service for them to even attempt to work with ATT. The unfair thing about this is non-leased line TDS customers get great customer service and leased line customers get little or no customer service and we both pay the same monthly fee. Seems unfair to say they can provide a level of service but can't produce because of leased line issues and their unwillingness to work with ATT. If ATT is giving them grief when they need something done then they need to address ATT and not make their customers suffer.

I hope this doesn't sound like a rant. That wasn't my intention. I was just explaining what I feel has happened to TDS.

anon : It is not that TDS doesn't care to fix bandwidth issues for our customers. They will do what can, but like you said, the Metro customers are on leased lines. ATT/SBC is very hard to work with from what I am told. It takes them forever to get around to do things for TDS

anon : I as well as many of the people and bussinesses I know in the madison area are suffering from TDS bandwidth issues. For example I have had 4mb DSL since it was available throught TDS and never had a problem until about 4 months ago. It seems that speeds drop to under 700k d/l at some times.

After working with TDS customer service they claimed the phone lines have degredated so I can no longer get 4mb but must lower my speed to 2mb. This is obviously obsurd. The other people I know with TDS are facing similar issues. They have had great service but are now getting low speeds on a regular basis. Typically a call to TDS and magically it gets better for a couple days and then it starts again.

Because I am in Madison TDS also must work with ATT and TDS has also decided that they will not even attempt to work with ATT unless there is a interruption in service they can specifically define to ATT. Don't get me wrong. TDS customer service still seems good when you speak with them but as for resolving issues related to bandwith they aren't interested in fixing them any longer. I hope I don't sound like I'm ranting because that's not my intension.

Do you work for TDS? If so and your interested in resolving these issues I'd be happy to work with you.

anon : I've had TDS since it became available in the Madison area. I think around 6 years? It has been a great phone and internet company with great service and speed. I've recommended it to all of my friends.

Unfortunately TDS is under new management now and they have lowered the priority on customer service. This is in part due to how much they have grown and now that they are so large their investors are wanting more revenue. Recently many of the people I know in the madison area and in verona have been having issues. These issues have been going on for about 4 months and TDS is not interested in fixing them. I also consult for bussinesses in the madison area and they are reporting the same issues and TDS is following the new status quo of litte or no effort in acknowledging or fixing them for both bussinesses and personal accounts.

I will be switching back to AT&T or charter as well as some of the companies I consult for. I just wanted to let people and businesses know that TDS isn't what it used to be and probably won't be again. I would go with charter and swith back to AT&T as new promotions come about.
