I had to reformat last night because at random intervals explorer would hang, I'd kill it, then it it would restart and create a brand new desktop directory and default to the all users desktop. And my DVD read speed maxed out at around 2x. And media player quit working, and my DRM got trashed so I couldn't listen to my music anymore. And I can't re-install media player because I have the newest version, but my media player won't run because of some error about it not being the right version. *shrug*
Oh, and lets not forget that apply to all folders doesn't mean apply to all folders. It means apply to this folder until Vista decides it no longer likes your preferences and then changes to thumbnail mode on a directory with no images.
Reformatted and now I get 21 FPS in WoW with all settings on low.. with an 8800GT... I used to get more than that with 2 copies running on high, one on each monitor.
Vista has issues. It reminds me of Windows ME. Some PCs it has problems with, and on others it runs flawlessly. My Wife's PC runs Vista without a single problem. I'm not so lucky.
I dual boot XP, because Vista isn't as fast and has a lot of bugs that need worked out. | |
