| reply to pablo2525 The lo down is as `backness' mentioned, a Press Release needs to be created and released.
It needs to be pushed here: »www.gallery-tribune.ca
Someone adept at writing Press Releases should cobble one together. An idea is to go to the above site and model one after an existing one. -- pablo openSUSE 10.3/KDE ISP: TekSavvy DSL; backhauled via a 6KM wireless link |

On the other hand, is it really OK for Rocky to be organizing a protest when he's involved with the CAIP filing? |

| reply to GKC said by GKC :Rocky...and what's to be your theme title for this protest? This is about Net Neutrality.... If we're to promote Technological advancement in Canada, we need ISP transparency, personal privacy and choice of content to be 1st on our minds. The internet is important to all of us, and as such it needs to remain open to everyone. Google would not have become what it is now without it, so who knows what's next.... Many good things have come from this beautiful open forum!

On the other hand, is it really OK for Rocky to be organizing a protest when he's involved with the CAIP filing? This isn't about CAIP or the CRTC right now... This is about Net Neutrality. I however do welcome anyone with experience in putting these types of events together to join in to make this a success as I admit, I've never done this before. -- TSI Rocky - TekSavvy Solutions Inc. |

Guspaz Guspaz Premium,MVM join:2001-11-05 Montreal, QC | reply to R0CKY IMO a protest is more about getting media coverage than convincing politicians to do anything; it's almost impossible to sway them, it seems.
However, more media coverage on the issue of net neutrality is a very good thing. |

| reply to R0CKY I'll request the day off from work as soon as I get over to the office. If it is a go for me, I have a mini-van and can car-pool some folks from Niagara. I can hold 8, 2 more on the roof strapped down. |

I'll start a discussion thread there to see if we can generate much interest. |

It would be good to have a leaflet to hand out to protesters which explains the reasons for the protest as well as a FAQ for media-type questions.
That way once this picks up momentum everyone will be on the same page, instead of it becoming a "Don't throttle my torrents!" protest -- which the media will certainly be quick to exploit. |

| reply to R0CKY some ideas:
1) you could try to increase the number of participants by contacting the forums of the other ISP including Bell forum and asking for a temporary sticky post as well. Net neutrality affects everybody and not just TSI subscribers ie the TSI forum.
2) if you want to know people who have experience organizing protests on parliament hill, talk with the union people who made a complain with the CRTC. I think it was the National Union of Public and General Employees. I think they could help you organize and get their members to participate or even get other unions involved. Google says their website is »www.nupge.ca/
3) Contact the public personalities like MP Charlie Angus, Michael geist to try to get them to participate since by their profession they are quite close to parliament.
4) Try to contact the CBC to arrange media coverage since they have been covering the story since the beginning and it affects them through the P2P distribution strategy on their website. Maybe they can give advice on releasing a press release as well. |

| reply to alphaz18 said by alphaz18 :said by Guspaz :Hmm... That's the day before school starts, so I'm technically free... I wonder what the cheapest way to get to Ottawa from Montreal is. Having missed today's gaming meeting, this protest might be the only way I can meet the DSLR/TSI gang :P EDIT: Somehow I doubt the RCMP has better things to do than harass a bunch of nerds protesting internet things :P guspaz. theres a few options cheapest would be drive. next option is take the bus go to canadacoach or greyhound. they have round trips. not too expensive. train is by far most expensive. you cannot take plane from montreal to ottawa. theres no flights . because mtl is too close to ottawa What about carpool? I'm sure there is someone elsee in your area going up. |
