Re: Protest on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, April 29th!

Sympatico Unplugged, UPS, laptop, VoIP, and a folding table... You could continue answering customer calls from in front of Parliament

Also for promotion make a video on youtube about the protest, it is a great way to spread the word, epecially since it's interent related.

Hey Rockie,

Be sure to inform the parliment public relations people that you are planning a demonstration at Parliament.

You need to set it up with them first first. Only scheduled pre-approved demonstrations are permitted on Parliament Hill.

some ideas:
Seems like we would need more than TSI here... maybe CAIP members should do the same so that we can all be on the hill discussing Net Neutrality (and not the CRTC issue).

The number to call is : (819)934-5436

Parliamentary Protocol Office

I called to inform them, but it was an answering machine. I left details for them to call me. I also mentionned that a peaceful demonstartion on Internet Neutrality was being scheduled for April 29, 1PM-6PM.

Will post when they call me, to confirm.

Rocky, I really think that this should be sent to Teksavvy users accounts as well, as popular as these forums are, it doesn't reach all the TSI users, does anyone agree?

hmm tempting, I live not too far from downtown. If there was ever a rally I'd participate in, it would probably this.

If someone had a bus etc that they have access to it could maybe take a certain route and all ppl would have to do be at a certain place at a certain time etc to catch it to Ottawa.

That's nuts (and correct).

That is 529KM, or $0.32 per KM. It costs me $128.00 to get from Montreal to Providence (Rhode Island), 577KM, or $0.22 per KM (2/3 the price).

And my trip includes a border crossing, a ton of stopovers, and changing bus companies in Boston...

I'm approaching you all to see about making this Rally as visible as possible. I'm work on putting together as big a rally as possible for net neutrality. The Telco/Cableco monopolies in Canada have all recently accelerated their efforts in the resent weeks, since Bell's Throttling started. Net Neutrality deals in various forms, but of major concern are privacy, choice and ISP transparency. The impending CRTC ruling may very well pave the road for either continued Canadian technical advancement/progress, or set the scene for a Corporate Canadian Internet. If we don't stand up and get both a better public and a stronger political understanding I fear our internet freedoms might be up for grabs by the highest bidder, or worse simply taken away!

Where: Parliament Hill in Ottawa
When: April 29th
Time: 1PM to 6PM

You guys want to make a case for Net Neutrality, then lets stop talking and start doing! I'M IN!

Rocky
I will be on the hill that day attending this protest.I think its important as many people as possible show up.
