That should make you more worried about their financials, not less.
That's how I see it, too. It could be a desperate grab for customers and cash.

I took a 10 minute peek at there SEC stuff. It looks like they are into many different things, and their financial picture was far better in 2007 vs 2006. A ton better!!!

I am NOT offering stock advice, nor am I making any investment recommendations. Before you do business or purchase stock you must do your own due diligence.

BTW, Nitzan reminds me of my younger self. He may work out of his home, or small office but he is so right. Keep the costs down, and be profitable.

Coincidently, just today I received a solicitation to be a selling agent for Lingo -- with huge commissions. Perhaps your fears are not so justified. see attachment
That should make you more worried about their financials, not less.

Most VoIP providers operate as a total bubble. They use today's revenue from new signups to pay for operational, advertising, and debt service costs for past subscribers. This works great when your userbase is growing, but the minute it stops growing - they're bankrupt. This is essentially what happened to SunRocket and what will very soon happen to MagicJack. (call me pessimistic but mark my words- they'll be gone before the end of the year)

Solution? there is none. They're stuck in an endless cycle where if they stop spending huge amount of $ on advertising they're dead meat, but because they're spending so much money on advertising they're making no profit and no progress.

The only providers I've seen so far who are not playing the catchup game are VoiceStick, CallWithUs, and of course Future Nine. In FN's case, instead of taking a bunch of loans and starting said cycle, we just financed it privately (family) and are building the service profitable from the ground up - without all the advertising costs. It's hasn't been long, but I'm glad to say we are profitable already!

Yes. I just switched to Viatalk after a couple of years with Lingo.

How do you know the financial situation of Lingo?

I have been with Lingo for a couple of years now. I have had my phone number since many years before that. I am happy with the service but I am very worried about their financial stability. If they simply dropped their service with no warning, as some providers have done in the past, it would be a very difficult process to inform all business and personal contacts of a change in phone number considering the length of time I have had the same number. Are my concerns legitimate? It appears to me that Lingo has limited life left in it. I currently have the standard Unlimited Calling plan with an added toll free number. Is there a comparable service by another provider for around the same price with a more stable company foundation? Thanks for any info.
