| UM 150 RSSI -75 ( Slow Downloads)
Traded my 550 for the UM 150 so i could move my PC into a better space (for my computer) in the house. With the 150 i hooked an external antenna up as the new place did not get a great signal. I am connecting at DO with an RSSI of -75. My uploads are about 100kbps but my downloads are less than 200kbps. I have discussed with Alltel and they do not think the problem is on their side. But they did open a trouble ticket and hopefully get back to me. I am on windows Vista and Alltel says thats the problem. Have any of you had this problem? I once was downloading at 1.2mbps (on Vista) no matter what time of day. They advised there was no problems in the area with the towers.
I asked if i was having problems due to the converson or testing out the Rev A and they said that was a nasty rumor and Rev A would not be rolled out for 80% of their system until next year. BooHoo. Anyway yall know why i have a great signal and a terrible download? Thanks for any ideas!! |

| Same situation on non-vista.
-69Db DO and I get 700kbsec down at most.
I used to get 1.5mbsec down or more, but suddenly my speeds halved. I dunno what's going on, but maybe it'll correct it self.
I'm on windows xp with the um150. I also have the latest PRL. |

| I'm also getting slower download speeds and my connection is holding at -75 or -76 with 4 or 5 bars most times now on my UM 150. It was always 5 bars and -75. I don't have any buffering when I watch a youtube video though. It isn't slow like HughesNet was. |

| I just did a speed test and it has dropped from my normal speeds of 1200 or more down to these numbers but it still is good as long as it doesn't drop anymore. I can't wait for the boost they said we will be getting.

| reply to Jriels I think we already got the Boost but it wasn't in the connection speed!!!
When you hear folks talking about boosting a magical 3 or 4 times the broadband speed out of thin air be skeptical.
Its usually hot air and some kind of scam, and youre fixing to get screwed!
Unless they actually are bring new hardware technology to the platform you wont see any new increase in raw bandwidth speeds.
As of a few days ago, my raw bandwidth speeds have been cut in half!!!
I think what we have now is reduced raw speeds, and a filtering cache proxy, which will in some cases speed up Graphic loading for well visited websites and give the appearance of faster connections but when you start a true download you will see the reduced raw speeds. |

| reply to Jriels Just an update, my speeds have returned to normal. I have not herd from Alltel but plan to check out my trouble ticket tomorrow. A few days ago i went and uninstalled all updates for vista and turned off every firewall i had. Still the speeds sucked. Then updated everything back the way it was and there still was no change in speeds. I do believe Alltel had some issues on their side, as I now notice what some have pointed out(proxy). My speeds are about 1,000kbps down and 100kbps up which is ok with me. This forum is a great place to ask questions and also express frustration. Thanks to all. |

| I wanted to mention that my connection seems to be getting more stable. If this continues I will be happy. I am only using the UM 150 and no external antenna.
